April 2018 FoodStirs review…in June.

Now that school is out, I have time to play catch-up. Sort of. I am playing catch-up with all parts of my life right now so it does get tricky.

Last week my son and I baked. I love to get him in the kitchen and helping and he likes to bake because he has a little sweet tooth. So every two months we get a FoodStirs box. Foodstirs is a baking subscription box and if you are on the plan, they send you a box every other month. April was Earth Day themed Snickerdoodle cookies. They include everything you need for the dry ingredients. They also include the decorations. I just needed to provide the eggs, butter, yogurt and oil. They also sent us some coupons too. IMG_20180607_145928485

Here is our finished product. It was really simple to follow and my son could help stir (batter did get out of the bowl). We didn’t have enough batter to fill up all 6 flower pots to the correct amount but that just means people who do not want a full cookie can have a half cookie. My son really loved the gummy worms that came with the box.

Summer 2018 Kidbox

I decided to get my son another Kidbox, one for summer. My son is starting to outgrow his 2T clothes so I was interested in what we would get.

Here is how it works:

  1. Go to the website and fill out a style survey. They ask for things such as colors to avoid, what do you need more of, what will they not wear, their style.
  2. They only ship out 5 times a year but you can skip a season if you would like.
  3. Review the box. You have 7 days before you are billed. If you keep everything, it is $98. If you keep only a few pieces, they offer it at a discount.
  4. Ship back what you do not want.
  5. If you kept it all, pick a charity you want Kidbox to donate clothes to.

So I thought I took a picture of the clothes but I didn’t and now I am too lazy to go get them out of his dresses.

IMG_20180601_105836830

So here is my “bill.” You can see the retail price and their discount. So if you keep everything, it costs only $98. We loved almost everything we got this month except the ECKO clothes. They seem huge. The Puma 2 piece is adorable as are the two shirts from Appaman and Andy + Evan. The Reebox shorts are also nice. My son is very active and during the school year he plays soccer and takes a yoga class.

We are always happy with the whole Kidbox process. Want to try it? Go here.

Barbella May Review 2018

So it has been awhile since I posted but I had computer issues for a while and then life. Anyways, I decided to get this months Barbella Box on purpose because Fleo had shorts in it and I love Fleo Shorts. They had four colors and you would be surprised which one you get. These are not sold in their shop. Plus Fleo shorts run from $42-50 and the Barbella Box costs $50 so kind of even.

IMG_20180522_193525605

Here is what I got:

  1. Fleo Shorts in Red Barbella Leaf ($44.95)

This is not the color I wanted but whatever. They have a group you can change colors/sizes but I don’t feel like going through that mess. They are the 3.25 length which is what I prefer. I wanted the purple pair(1st) or blue pair (last) from the picture below.

Image result for barbella box fleos

2. Native Deodorant ($12)

All natural deodorant which I have never tried before. It does smell good.

3. Gobi Gear Segsac 15L ($20)

My husband actually owns this exact one already. Basically it is a sac with 4 compartments in it. It is small but holds a lot. My husband uses it for camping, like one compartment holds his socks/underwear, one his shirts and so on. I think this would be good for dirty laundry while traveling.

4. Sandbar Handcare Bar Butter ($8)

I thought it was chapstick (which it can be) but it is for any burns or abrasions you have. So like chafing, rope burns etc. I think I will use it for chafing from running mostly.

They also included a sample of Hum Nutrition Raw Beauty Powder which is supposed to help your skin while giving you energy.

May 2018 Stitch Fix Review

This month I got a new stylists that I have not worked with before. I guess I forgot to request the same ones but this one was really good too that I have already requested her again. I also made not that I was looking for something in a cobalt blue for my sororities convention. But they didn’t have anything that would fit the criteria.

If you are new to Stitch Fix, this is how it works:

1. Fill out your Style Profile. This gives detail on your style, sizes, budget and anything else like a link to your pinterest board.

2. Once you have “ordered” your box, they will send you 5 items from a personal stylists.  It is a $20 styling fee which is applied as a credit toward anything you keep.

3. Try everything on. They send you Style Cards with recommendations on how to wear your outfit.  You have three days to decide what you do and do not want.

4. Buy what you like and return the rest. If you keep all 5 items, you get 25% off your entire purchase.  Don’t like something, they send you a pre-paid mailing bag to drop in the mailbox.  It is free shipping.

Here is what I got:

IMG_20180506_194552143

Romolo Roshina Station Ball necklace $34 (returned)

IMG_20180506_194612757

I love silver jewelry but this piece was way too long for my liking. It would look super cute on other people I tend to like short delicate necklaces.

Studio Blue Freya Skinny Jean $58 (return) and Mix by 41Hawthorn Jessa Essential Knit Tee $32 (return)

IMG_20180506_195019718

The stylists recommended these pants because I have bought bright colors before. However, I do not like light purple. It just makes me look gross. Plus these pants are like a half-size too small. The shirt was comfy but nothing special to spend the money on. It is also in the high 90s now so I would not get to wear it until next January.

Le Lisn Juri 2fer Maxi Dress $74 (kept)

I love this dress. The skirt part is very light weight and has slits and the just the right amount of sass. The only draw back? My horrible year around tan line. The stress was really comfy though and I can wear it year round here.

Wisp Leeah Lace Knit Dress $68 (kept)

IMG_20180506_195615303

Another winner. This will be perfect for convention. I think it takes some weight off of me which is always a plus.

So I spent more than I wanted to this month but I did get 2 dresses I really like. Want to try Stitch Fix for yourself? Go here

Foodstirs February 2018 review

Only took us a month and a half to bake our February box. I always have the best intentions but have to remember to get eggs. Yes, we normally do not have eggs in our house since my husband is sort of allergic to them if they are not cooked in food.

So Foodstirs is a baking subscription box and if you are on the plan, they send you a book every other month. February was Heart-Shaped Brownies. They include everything you need for the dry ingredients. They also include the decorations and the mold for the brownies. I just needed to provide the eggs, water and oil. They also sent us a free sample of their cake in a mug.

IMG_20180401_174238964

Everything is included.

My son always has a lot of fun baking with me. He loves stirring and this time he helped get the mix into the molds.

IMG_20180401_174846714

The instructions are really simple to follow.

IMG_20180401_180235911

Making icing

In the end, our brownies turned out delicious. I had to throw out 1 because it did not bake all the way through because my son put too much mix in it. The rest though were delicious. The mold had six hearts but we were able to get 10ish brownies out of the mix. The decorating is not that pretty but who cares when it tastes so good. This one has been the favorite in our house so far.

Stitch Fix March 2018 Review

I received my 28th Stitch Fix yesterday. So I quickly took some pictures. I really have no idea what I am going to keep.

My stylist I had in January was on vacation so I got a new stylist again. I also get advice from my husband and two friends through group messenger.

IMG_20180314_185458989

Nine West Speak Up Satin Printed Flats $69

IMG_20180314_185413918

I am a sucker for flats, especially pretty flats. These would look cute with jeans and a simple shirt or like black pants with a solid top. My problem is the price as I am on a budget for the time being. So I am undecided.

French Grey Gerarda Ruffle Hem Brushed Knit Dress $54

IMG_20180314_185341607

This dress is a little heavy but really soft and comfy. My problem, it is a little too short. So from the front, it looks fine, in the back though, the ruffles are on my butt. My husband liked this one the best and didn’t think it looked too short. My friends liked the dress too but haven’t seen it in person.

41 Hawthorn Dabit Sheer Detail Blouse $54 and Liverpool Annemarie Skinny Jean $78

IMG_20180314_185203176

Don’t like the blouse. The color looks gross on me and there is a gap in the buttons where my bust is. So it is definitely no. My friends were not a fan of the grey jeans, but my husband really likes them. So again, not sure.

Skies are Blue Mishella Lace Yoke Knit Top $58 and same jeans

IMG_20180314_185113504

My friends all like this top but I am unsure. The shirt color and lace color just don’t seem like they go together but you can’t tell by this picture.

So I am not sure what to keep this time and what to send back. I have a couple of days to decide.

Kidbox Spring 2018 Review

A couple of weeks ago, I got an e-mail about if I want to order a spring Kidbox for my son. I haven’t ordered him a box in some time now and he is starting to change sizes so I thought it might be perfect time to order him a box. In reality, I probably should have skipped it because I am getting all my fun hospital bills but its only money, right?? Oh, I am being completely facetious with that last comment.

The information card

IMG_20180307_193352241

  1. Puma Boys 2 Piece Top and Short Set $42, their price $32

I love this set. My son is pretty active and involved in sports. He plays soccer, swims, just started yoga and loves to trail run so this is perfect for him.

2. DKNY Boys 3 Piece Set $66, their price $50

The set is a jacket, jeans and short sleeve. My son does like layers so we will not be wearing the jacket most likely.

3. ART+EDEN Boys graphic tee $29, their price $22.

My son loves dinosaurs so this is a win.

4. U.S. Polo Assn. Boys Short Sleeve Stripe Shirt $18, their price $13.

Cute button up shirt.

The little giraffe stuffed animal, I think came from the box, otherwise I have no idea where it came from.

IMG_20180307_193313339

  1. This is the back of the DKNY outfit.

2. U.S Polo Assn. Boys Twill Short with belt $24, their price $17

We wear shorts like 10 months out of the year so these are perfect.

3. Puma Boys Performance Tee $22, their price $17.

Another great short but my athletic kid.

Total came to $201 but their box is only $98. For some reason, I had a discount which made my total to $78.40. I don’t know how I got a discount but I will keep it. Want to try Kidbox? Go here.

Barbella Box February 2018 Review

So in February, I forgot to put my Barbella Box on hold, or I didn’t forget but was too late. I really didn’t want this one because I knew I had some big medical bills to pay. I also owed money for some rooms on an upcoming family vacation. So this was an expense I didn’t need. I only keep this subscription just because they once had a pair of shorts I really wanted.

Anyway…

IMG_20180222_181332267

  1. Vull Sport Speckled Barbellsa Sports Bra ($48)

So this sports bra is not a high neck nor a low neck, just right in the middle. It comes with removable pads too. It’s really pretty, it is white/gray color with dark gray specks. I wore it during my workout on Friday night and it was very comfy, supportive and you didn’t really notice you were wearing a sports bra. This one was made just for the box but it is very similar to the Vull Sports Evolve Bra except this one has slightly wider shoulder straps. You can find that bra here.

2. LSTN Sound Co Crescent Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds ($99)

I don’t wear bluetooth earbuds but my husband does. What is a shame is he just got a nice pair for Christmas.

3. EXO Chalk ($14.99)

This is just a block of chalk. I didn’t know how expensive chalk is. While my gym has chalk buckets, I will be giving this to my husband because he has a chalk bag since he is getting into rock climbing.

4. RX bar Chocolate Sea Salt ($2.50)

Just 4 ingredients make this bar. A lot of people I know really like these. I am not a bar person so it went to my husband.

5. Barbella Strong Vinyl Sticker ($1.99)

A sticker.

So that is what I got in this one. I do really like the sports bra which is the price of the box so it is a win, especially with a $100 pair of earbuds.

Foodstirs December review

Yes, it says December. My son and I just baked this yesterday. We are a little behind in life and finally got around to it. He doesn’t know any better.

So Foodstirs is a baking subscription box and if you are on the plan, they send you a book every other month. December was Gingerbread People. They include everything you need for dry ingredients. They also include the piping bag, cookie cutters and things to decorate for. I just needed to provide the egg, butter, yogurt, mixing bowls, cookie sheet.

IMG_20180218_094536708

Everything included in the box

They have easy instructions to follow which I did correctly, unlike the disaster of the October box. My son really loves helping and was excited that he got to stir, use the cookie cutters and decorate. We didn’t use a lot of the gummy bears and jelly beans on the cookies because most ended in my sons mouth instead.

IMG_20180218_095956054

They didn’t turn out pretty but my son had a lot of fun and that is all that matters.

IMG_20180218_114906359

I really recommend this box. It is great bonding and then you have something good to eat. My husband had been out-of-town and he got a cookie right when he got home, and said they are really good. That is from someone who is not a huge sweets fan.

Stitch Fix November 27th Review

Over the holiday weekend I received another Stitch Fix. I was shocked because I never received the “it’s coming” email.

Anyway, here is how it works if you are new:

IMG_20171128_213120589_BURST000_COVER_TOP

I have been working with this stylists for a while.

Urban Expressions Thea Work Satchel $58

IMG_20171128_213040596

I am undecided about this bag. Not sure if I need another purse. I saw a purse this same color at Kate Spade Outlet but with sparkles on it and they are about the same price. So not sure if I should just go to the outlet and pick that one up instead.

Dantelle Kris Lace Detail Knit Top $48 and Liverpool Shannon Pencil Skirt $68

IMG_20171128_213358599

I have been searching for a black pencil skirt for a while because the one I have it slowly dying. It is like 11 years old. I like this skirt but keep flip-flopping. The shirt looks cute in the photo but I thought it looked very frumpy on me.  My husband liked it but I was not a fan.

No Comment Terri Cut Detail Waffle Knit Top $38 and Pixley Ann Faux Leather Trim Skirt $68

IMG_20171128_213557965

The shirt is a no.  It goes up a little on the sides and I feel like it was too short.  My husband did not like the top, he said it looked like a tore the neckline. I tried explaining that is the style but he said no, and I don’t blame him. The skirt is super cute.  However, it would not zip.  I could exchange it for a bigger size but I would hate to do that and then realize the bigger size does not work either.
