My 1st Trunk Club Experience

In June, my husband tried Trunk Club as I wanted him to have a nice outfit for our family photos.  He hates to shop so I thought this would be an easier way for him to find some new clothes since he tried them on from home.  He ended up buying 1 pair of shoes, 1 pant, 2 shorts and 3 tops. Needless to say, it was a success and we are thinking he does it twice a year. One time for summer clothes and one time for non-summer clothes as Houston really only has two seasons.

My husbands stylist e-mailed me asking if I wanted to try.  I was hesitant at first because I heard they charge for the women’s trunk (they do, a one-time $100 that will count as credit) but since my husband is a member, I would not get the charge.

Here is how it works:

  1. Fill out a survey that asks for your sizes, measurements, likes and dislikes, what does your closet need.
  2. I sent my stylist a couple of photos of me so she could see my body shape.
  3. Your stylists will send you a preview where you can tell them what not to send and why not.  I sent back 3 items.
  4. They send the box. They send between 7-15 items.  I have 10 in mine.  It comes looking like a trunk and has all the things you need to send it back free of charge.  You can even have it picked up from your house.
  5. Try on and give feedback. Send back what you don’t want.

They also send an e-mail with outfit suggestions from the trunk. Here is what I got. Don’t mind the shadows and weird eyes.  My husband was reading and didn’t have time for my little games.

Halogen Double V Neck Shift Dress in coral $69 and Steve Madden Reisa Strappy Wraparound Sandal $79.95

Hated the sandal.  One fit great, the other one was tight and not my style.  I really wanted to love the dress because it would be perfect for teaching and a descent price but my husband said it did not look good on me and for him to say something like that, I knew it had to go.

Halogen Print Pleat Front Top in black $59, NYDJ Marilyn Stretch Straight Leg Jeans in Yucca $114  and Sam Edelman Greta Sandal $84.95

The top had to go. I could not lift my arms past my chest.  The jeans are a very high cut but really comfortable. I am still deciding on those. My husband does like the jeans.  I love the sandals!

Splendid Scoop Neck Tee $68, everything else is the same as above.

This shirt is so soft and comfortable but for $68?  This whole outfit is what I am debating on.  I like them all but do not know if I should get them all or just get some.  Thoughts?

Joe’s Provocateur Bootcut Jeans $185 & Vince Camuto Cold Shoulder Stripe Short Sleeve Top $69

Husband liked these jeans too but not as much as the first pair.  They fit well but were a little low cut and I constantly worry about bending down at work. The top did not fit well.  It was tight but then super loose in the arms.

Vince Camuto Faux Wrap Jersey Jumpsuit $98

This jumpsuit looks fine here but if I turned around, you would see how it is too big in the chest area and is just opening up for everyone to see.  You would also see the my legs are a little long as it gives me a permanent wedgie. This is definitely a no.

Eliza J Belted Polka Dot Woven Fit and Flare Dress $158

I loved loved loved this dress.  I asked my husband what could I possibly wear it to and his ideas:

  1. Sunday Brunch with the girls
  2. Outside wedding in the spring
  3. Wine Tasting
  4. Garden Party

Since I do not do any of those things, I had to send it back. Or I should say, Sunday brunch includes us running beforehand so we are in running clothes and wine tasting is not fancy either for my group. It really saddens me that I do not live a fancier life so that I could keep this dress.

Any thoughts/comments about what I should keep or send back?

If you want to give it a try, Nicole is very patient and great and you can go here .
